Dr. Karl Berger is a winner of 6 Downbeat Critics Poll awards. He has recorded for numerous labels including Blue Note, Milestone, Polygram, and Antilles/Island, and has written over 100 compositions and arrangements for jazz groups, fusion ensembles, big band and symphony orchestra. He has received commissions from the National Endowment For The Arts, The New York State Council On The Arts and WDR (West German) Radio Orchestras. As a teacher, he founded and directed The Creative Music Studio which brought together virtually a who's who of jazz and ethnic musicians who shared their skills and ideas with students from around the world.
