According to the Woodstock Times: "The Town of Woodstock has declared that Saturday, August 6 is Traum Day, honoring brothers Happy and Artie Traum as musical ambassadors who were instrumental in putting Woodstock on the map, and whose contributions have inspired the creativity in countless others."
The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Arts cited "the music of (the late) Artie Traum and Happy Traum through their albums, their WAMC radio show and their many benefit performances have added to the 'sound track' of our community spirit." The Chamber also lauded the success of Happy and Jane Traum's Homespun Tapes, the music instruction business that has provided lessons for players around the world, as having "created jobs and enhanced the music scene by providing a steady flow of well respected national and international musicians who have visited and performed in out town."
Hundreds turned out to witness the ceremony and to cheer us on. Levon Helm chauffeured us to the Village Green in a brand new Camaro convertible, so we arrived in great style.

After the speeches, proclamations and the symbolic "keys to the city" were given out, I took to the stage with my good buddies, John Sebastian, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams and Levon Helm, and we played for, and sang with, the very enthusiastic crowd of friends and neighbors. It was a truly memorable day!
