On October 19, Happy will perform his "Coming of Age in the Folk Revival" concert and slide/show at the legendary Cecil Sharp House, which is the center for British folk music and dance. This will be his first UK appearance in many years and there is already considerable "buzz" about it. Happy does a full set of music followed by a historic look at the roots of the Greenwich Village and Woodstock folk scenes. All of us at Homespun were very saddened to learn of the sudden passing, in April, of the excellent keyboard player Tim Alexander. Tim played piano and accordion for the acclaimed Texas swing band Asleep at the Wheel for 12 years before leaving the road to continue as a session musician in the Dallas area. His excellent "The Real Honky Tonk Piano," as well as his work with Norteño master Flaco Jimenez on "Tex-Mex Accordion," made him a Homespun favorite. At their annual convention in Anaheim California, the National Association of Music Merchants gave Homespun its "Milestone Award" for our 50 years in the music business. Jane and I humbly accepted this honor at a special breakfast ceremony on Saturday, January 21.
